The advantage of the Iridium phone and service is that, though the phone is approximatelly $1.415.00 more to purchase, it is smaller (a little bigger than a regular sized cell phone).

Iridium also charges a flat fee to call anywhere in the world and has no roaming fees; in other words, a simple, straightforward plan that is easy to understand. The difference between them is not much, other than the difference in purchase price and that the Iridium phone is smaller and has no roaming. If you will be travelling to Europe, Asia, Latin America, or outside of North America and expect to make calls to countries other than the USA, not only to the USA, then Iridium is the clear choice.
